T. , Inc. 06855 Regulation of mineral products used by the ceramic industry has progressed at a snail’s pace over the past few years, probably for two reasons. First, because of limited funds the Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) has felt compelled to concentrate on other areas where the health hazard level is much higher and more people are at risk; and second, OSHA standard developers gradually have realized that the science of minerals is much more complex than they originally had imagined and that scientifically inadequate standards in this area lead only to confusion, litigation, and a fostering of the adversary position OSHA wants to avoid.
